Plus500 Appoints Penelope Judd as Chairman

The London listed broker, Plus500 has decided that they will appoint Penelope Judd, a former compliance official as a chairwoman on the company’s board from the 1st of June.

This will be in replacement of the current chairman on the board, Mr Alastair Gordon. He has been the director since Plus500’s Initial Public Offering in 2013.

Previously, Mrs Judd served as a non-executive director at the company since initially joining. Upon starting with the company in 2016 she chaired the Risk and Compliance Committee.

In terms of professional background, Mrs Judd is a chartered accountant by training and has worked in Financial services for over 30 years.

She previously worked at Nomura international PLC in London as head of the firm’s compliance division from 2012. Prior to this, she worked at UBS AG of Zurich as head of their compliance division for the EMEA region from 2007.

Mrs Judd is an accountant by training and began her career at KPMG where she qualified as a CA. Subsequent to this, she left KPMG and joined the UK Listing Authority and was in charge of the Equity Markets admissions. She assessed whether companies were allowed to list based on regulatory standards.

Asaf Elimelech, the CEO of Plus500 had these congratulatory words to say about Mrs Judd “I would like to take this opportunity, both personally and on behalf of the Board, to thank Alastair for his invaluable contribution and support in leading the Board at the time of our flotation and over the past four years, which included major events and changes that influenced our Company and our market. His wise counsel and experience will be missed by the board. We wish Alastair all the best.”

In other changes, Steve Baldwin was promoted as a Non-Executive Director with the Plus500 and this change will take effect in early June 2017. He has extensive experience in the Financial Services sector.

He was previously Head of European Equity Capital Markets at Macquarie Bank of Australia. He was also a director at JP Morgan Cazenove for over 10 years as well as vice president of Corporate finance at UBS AG from 1995 to 1998.

The CEO was similarly full of praise claiming “We are also pleased to welcome Steve to the Board given his recent experience as a non-executive director. His background in corporate finance and broking, both as industry practitioner and board director, will also be a great asset as we continue to develop our strategic plans for the business.”
